According to Gamespot, Battle.net project manager Greg Canessa hinted that the next instalment of StarCraft II – the Zerg campaign, Heart of the Swarm – will only be released 18 months from now.
Canessa said that Battle.net features such as trading replays (can I get a WHOOP!?), broadcasting replays and upgrading profiles will be the “main area of focus we’re going to be seeing on the Starcraft [II] side over the next 18 months between now and Heart of the Swarm.”
This puts the release date at April 2012, and it may well be that Blizzard will focus on launching Diablo III next year.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void will be the third iteration of the game, and will tell the story of the Protoss campaign.
Blizzard has not revealed an official launch period for the Diablo III, although it has been confirmed that the game will be shown at Blizzcon later this month.
